about

Silk Royal is excited to present a new vocal release, featuring the amazingly talented Ukrainian singer Aida Fenhel. Her collaborator is label fixture Schodt, who continues to dazzle us with the maturity and depth of his work. The Original Mix jets out of the gate with an explosive rhythm section, as Aida's sensual voice slowly creeps into the mix. Suddenly, the beats drop away, and the mesmerizing main verse is left to breathe on its own. In the chorus, crystalline synth stabs join an uplifting side-chained pad, while the vocal continues to soar overhead. Longtime Silk muse Mango, whose contributions to parent label Silk Digital and ambient sub-division Silk Sofa remain fan favorites, offers a driving and euphoric interpretation. Mango's talent for chord-based melodies is once again on display here, as well as a tremendous sense of rhythmic and melodic progression. The combination of his vintage sound with Aida's voice is especially poignant. Finally, virtuoso musician, engineer, and "sonic experimentalist" Matt Lange offers a deeper, darker, sexier take, with clear influences from the progressive "golden" era of years past. A techy rhythm develops early, as well as his trademark rolling arp lines, which pinball back and forth across the strereo spectrum to vertiginous effect. In the breakdown, dubby "echoes" of Aida' voice are layered on top of one other, creating an awe-inspiring soundscape.
